The word BIOTOPE means life in a territory or vital space whose environmental conditions are adequate for a certain community of living beings to develop in it.
Life is distinguished in two terms. On the one hand we have the BIOCENOSIS that refers to everything related to flora and fauna, and on the other hand we have the BIOTOPE referring to climate and water and the type of soil.
According to Karl Friedrich Dahl, a scientist of German origin, he is the one who coined the term BIOTOPE. BIO which means life and TOPOS which designates “place” to refer with BIOTOPE to that site that is suitable for the development of life.
It is an ecological environment with certain characteristics that condition the life that exists in them, being occupied by communities with spaces of plant and animal type. The BIOTOPE does not refer to the life that is housed in it, but to the physical and chemical qualities of the environment that influence the living beings that inhabit it.
