Creation of a Biotope

The word BIOTOPE means life in a territory or vital space whose environmental conditions are adequate for a certain community of living beings to develop in it.

Life is distinguished in two terms. On the one hand we have the BIOCENOSIS that refers to everything related to flora and fauna, and on the other hand we have the BIOTOPE referring to climate and water and the type of soil.

According to Karl Friedrich Dahl, a scientist of German origin, he is the one who coined the term BIOTOPE. BIO which means life and TOPOS which designates “place” to refer with BIOTOPE to that site that is suitable for the development of life.

It is an ecological environment with certain characteristics that condition the life that exists in them, being occupied by communities with spaces of plant and animal type. The BIOTOPE does not refer to the life that is housed in it, but to the physical and chemical qualities of the environment that influence the living beings that inhabit it.

Principles of Biodynamics

Biodynamics is a holistic, ecological and ethical approach to agriculture, food and nutrition.

Soil Fertility

One of the fundamental values of biodynamics is soil regeneration, the basis for obtaining better and healthier food. Products ripen best in living soil where the humus layer is rich and nutritious. This provides a source of nutrients for plants, regulates the soil's air and heat balance, and also binds CO2, thus playing a very important and beneficial role for the planet's climate.

Respect for Animals

Animal welfare is of the highest priority. On biodynamic farms, the animals not only provide their products, but also produce essential manure for healthy, nutrient-rich soil. The necessary conditions are created for the animals to behave according to their nature (raised in the wild and fed on farm pastures). Any animal abuse or mutilation practice is prohibited, such as dehorning or cutting wings and tails.

Biodiversity

Biodynamics promotes and preserves biodiversity by developing practices such as polycultures, crop rotations, bodies of water, refuges for insects and birds, and protection of wildlife. Chemical pesticides and herbicides are prohibited. Similarly, the use of transgenics and chemical treatment is prohibited.

Guaranteed Organic Quality

Biodynamic's strict standards go far beyond organic, to provide superior quality products. The integrity and quality of the products is preserved throughout the entire value chain. Processes never destroy, maintain or enhance the vitality of food.

Ecological Responsibility

Biodynamics understands the mutual interdependencies in the ecosystem and collaborates with all of nature's stakeholders. Create biotopes for all living things - from the smallest insect to the largest animal and all life in between. Biodynamic agriculture restores fertility, sequesters carbon, and regenerates insect, plant, and animal life.

Social Responsability

At the heart of biodynamics lives a deep desire for social justice and respect. As human beings are part of the biodynamic organism, they must be valued and respected as much as the soil, plants and animals. This includes equal opportunities for all and healthy and safe working conditions.

Biodynamic Agriculture

The BIODYNAMIC qualifier means that we work in accordance with the energies that create and maintain life, above all respecting certain principles to ensure the health of the earth and plants and to ensure healthy nutrition for animals and human beings.

Ecological Agriculture

Ecological agriculture, also called organic and biological, is based on cultivation that takes advantage of natural resources, to combat pests, maintain and increase soil fertility without resorting to chemical products. In this way, the healthiest and most natural elements are obtained since they are free of toxic residues.

The main difference between organic and biodynamic agriculture is that the former breaks its head to incorporate into the land what the farmer believes is missing, while biodynamic guarantees much more: "It creates the conditions in the soil and on the farm so that it is nature that decides at each moment and in each place what is necessary.
